I am having trouble deleting a folder within my External HD.

Everytime I highlight the folder or right click it simply freezes the external HD window completely. So basically I cannot manually delete it.

I have not done any backups nor did I want to. I have a lot of important files on the external HD, and I do not want to mess around with backtracking and old backups.

I just want to delete that folder somehow. Anyone know of a way I can get around this and delete the folder in some other fashion?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

OS?
Drive Letter?
File system? (FAT, FAT32, NTFS etc)
Folder name?
Is it empty?
Are you sure you really want to get rid of it?

open up a command prompt (start/run-cmd(nt/xp) or command(9x))
Type: rd [drive letter]:\[name of directory]

example: to delete a directory named temp in a drive called "I:"
the command would be: rd i:\temp.
If the folder name has spaces then surround it with quotes.
ex rd i:\"temp folder"
