So I've bought a Lavry DA10 DAC to connect to my X-Fi's optical out with bit matched. Since I'm using an external DAC to process the signal, would there be any "real" difference by changing to a Juli@ or Emu? Or will it be essentially identical?

If the x-fi is capable of bit perfect playback and you have set the DA10 to crystal lock there will be likely be no discernable difference.

Which player and settings are you using?

I have tried my DA10 on all my digital sources including an Iriver H120 and can not tell them apart.

The DA10 with the crystal lock reclocking circuit is a great choice for computer sources.
