Experiences with Transports: Sonore MicroRendu, SOtM sMS-200 or Allo DigiOne?

Well I went ahead and bought an Allo USBridge and Shanti LPS. Now let's hope I can figure out how to get it all set up properly.

It shouldn't be too difficult and please share how that streaming platform does in comparison to your PC.

Can’t speak for the other options but I’m surprised how little love the Sonore products get on Head-fi. I’ve currently got the OpticalRendu which by the time you add a decent LPS and the OpticalModule Deluxe (and another LPS) is a bit pricey. I used to have an Ultrarendu which is much better value and worked brilliantly especially when combined with HQPlayer on my PC. A real sweet spot in the Sonore range.

I like the simplicity and compact size of the Sonore products. I would have loved to have gone with Sonore, especially since they are a US company, but the price was outside of my budget. I just couldn't justify spending more on one of these devices (with power supply) than I have in my DAC and amp combined.

As it stands, I was just getting my Allo USBridge up and running when I grabbed the wrong connector and inserted it into the back during a power cycling. Unfortunately, I had another barrel connector from a different power supply sitting right in the vicinity. Of course it had to be the exact same size connector, of course it had to be hot, and of course it had to be a different voltage. Turns out the USBridge doesn't like 12v and now it's headed back to India to get repaired :rage:

I'm thinking about selling the Shanti power supply to help cut my losses and moving on to something different.

If I may ask, do you intend to replace that PSU with something else also linear?

I have an opportunity to purchase a MicroRendu used. How did you like the Sonicorbiter OS? Did you use it for any streaming services like Spotify or Tidal?

I use Roon so not really a consideration for me.

So did you go for it, what's been your experience with the sonore?

I'm very pleased with the Sonore MicroRendu. I like the small form factor and found it much easier to use than the Allo UsBridge. No setup, no figuring things out, it's just plug and play. The Sonicorbiter OS is excellent, although I have mostly just been using it to stream Spotify. Spotify connect works flawlessly and I am able to control everything within the Spotify app which is nice. I'm currently using it with an iFi iPower switching power supply.

Wow that’s just -1 from my experience since gertting a ultrarendu this week. Spotify worked for 1 minute. Hqplayer worked once as well. It seems that the device is A/B test proof!! After it connects, dont ever try and change the source or it “disconects” / dont play again

Are you running it "direct connect" to your computer? I tried this with the USBridge and MicroRendu and it caused lots of problems. I could not for the life of me get the local connection to work properly for either of these devices, but I'm also pretty lousy at networking. In theory it is possible, but they are really meant to be connected to your modem or router. I figure you're already connecting this way, but just in case...
