okay why are some lods so expensive? over $200+??? is it simply cause of the quality material that doesn't make a noticable difference? if so, can anyone help me find an ipod 2G LOD that is under 50 bucks? i've been looking at http://ibasso.com/en/products/show.asp?ID=53 or http://ibasso.com/en/products/show.asp?ID=55  , does anyone know anywhere else to buy lod's besides ebay and qables?

I'm struggling with this myself. (I need a dock for my iPhone) 
 
I'm not afraid to try and make one myself but cannot seem to locate where to buy a decent dock connector, and a how-to guild would be really nice as well. I googled it, found LOTS of sites but they all seem to be a little different.

I bought one of those iBasso LODs off ebay for half the price iBasso charge. The seller called it a Paillics LOD after the jack plug.

you can also check the FS forums as there are ipod LOD's that come up very often. or post a WTB in the FS section.

I'd personally stay away from those very expensive ones.
 
Here's one from Audiophile Products that I have and that works well.  It's also sturdy which is a plus.

The Fiio L1 LOD can be bought on ebay for around $10.

Cost of material, labour to build it, the cost of running a business (housing, electricity, marketing, ..), ...
All this added up to quite a cost.
