Subject line pretty much encapsulates it. Looking for a pair of headphones for working out (running, weightlifting) for less than $100. Will consider on-ear and ear-bud types; IEMs provide too much isolation when running in the city.

All advice appreciated.

Personally, I only use Koss KSC-75s. I sweat a lot and even though i love my Etymotics IEMs for everything else, i don't want seeat on them. They Koss ones ultra inexpensive, have surprisingly good sound for the price point, and I can shake my head back and forth violently without them coming off. They also don't provide much isolation but I prefer that since if I go running I want to hear oncoming traffic. And when they get beat up just buy another pair since they cost so little. Give them a try.
