Idid this mod to one of two ex71sl I have so I could make a comparison. Take a large size paper clip (not a regular one but one about 1 1/2" long, It is a hevier gauge metal thus larger diameter). Gently poke it through the existing hole in the grey paper covering the driver to enlarge the hole about twice its diameter to that of the paper clip. DO NOT REMOVE the paper like the old ex70 mod.
I found this mod to open up the mids and definelty reduce the boominess of the bass. All of the bass is still there just not as boomy. I compared this to my unmodded version and there is definetly an apprceable difference. I listened to them about a week before posting my findings.
