Was planning to build the AMB Mini3 for the experience of it, and also to use it with my Beyerdynamics DT770 @ 600 ohm headphones when traveling with my iPod.
 
I know now that the Mini3 isn't able to produce the optimal/necessary voltage swing, but wanted to hear if anyone had actually tried that combo? Maybe it can work after all - don't necessarily need high volumes since the DT770 isolates pretty well.
 
Any other recommendations for a DIY portable head amp kit as good as the Mini3?

Seems not and guessing there's a good reason for that. I'll stick with doing a stationary amp for my high-Z headphones (CKIII, M3, Panda or similar).
