My job has me drowning in acronyms, technical and otherwise, and what's really nasty is that some of them are overloaded (they have more than one possible expansion) meaning you have to pay attention to context to figure out which acronym was meant. On top of that, people talk in acronyms and usually don't bother to define them because THEY know what they mean.

The other day I had to actually stop and think a minute to remember what TCP (as in TCP/IP) stands for. The acronyms get so much use they become words with meaning on their own.
