True! I keep looking for info... not getting anything

That's not really all that much surprising since the EVO haven't been released yet.

I think we'd know by now if it were to be April.

It was only fairly recently that Etymotic posted a final prototype with inspection pass on their social media, so we're probably still waiting for the production run.

At this point, we're expecting May.

I aggregated everything we know so far about the Etymotic EVO in one place here (it's got all the references at the bottom):

Indeed, lots of useful info. Actually, I heard a rumor from a reliable source that price will be under $500. Considering today's market dominated by kilobuck and multi-kilobuck flagships, that is pretty good!

I have been drooling over ER series for a while, but it doesn't work with my earcanals, so I hope EVO's more traditional shell will fit. Doesn't look like these require deep insertion, and I can use my Westone eartips with it.

If I know anything about Etymotic, it is their marketing model that makes them highly lovable. 30 years of IEM engineering expertise which I don't think anyone can dispute. Them being a research and engineering company first, specialists in Auditory equipment. And yet they sell their flagship ER4 at price akin to selling peanuts compared to what you get from newer players who charge you like $1000-3000 for something which were likely not as extensively researched and engineered and meticulous as Etymotic products. So, EVO comes out with anything below $500 rest assured I jump in head first in a heartbeat buying them

Don't forget that about a decade ago when the IEM and headphone market wasn't as crowded as it is now and when new releases weren't seemingly pushed out every other week, most reputable companies' flagship multi-BA (U)IEMs (that can still compete with newer releases, except for, in my experience, perhaps soundstage size and imaging) and headphones were priced at around 500$ maximum, with only very few exotic outliers (regarding UIEMs, CIEMs are a different story) in the higher three-digit or lower four-digit price range.
Obviously times have changed and the headphone/IEM market has grown rapidly, and over time buyers have opened up to higher prices and accepted the (partially much) higher prices for new releases (newer + more expensive + more drivers = assumption of being automatically better), and thankfully companies have also opened up as to releasing their CIEM-only models (of which many were superior in terms of imaging and soundstage size) as UIEMs as well and/or designed UIEMs with the more complex crossover and filtering networks usually found in CIEMs.

I find the lack of deep insertion concerning, because I find that with my ER4 it has to go all the way with the bend of the cable sitting just outside the ear in that little slot (not sure what it's called) for the seal to work with the triple flanges. If the EVO doesn't go deep enough for the triple flanges to work properly I'd have to use the double flanges which murder my ears...

I find the lack of deep insertion

Insertion depth of EVO is the same as the ER series. When I pointed out this statement (in the Etyheads FB group) from their initial email campaign: "Additionally, the nozzle has been shortened for a wider set of ears" (see attached image), someone from Etymotic reached out and clarified the nozzle length will be the same as the ER series.

The insertion depth is part of the Etymotic experience/sound as I don't think you can eliminate the occlusion effect without it.
