I am looking to get the etymotic hf5's as they look pretty good for my isolation needs.  The only concern I have which needs answering is on how deep they go.  Is there a limit to how far they can go in?  I ask because I am going to be using these mainly for riding the subway (which is very loud).  If for example somebody punches me in the ear while these are in, what would the outcome be?  Shures for example wouldn't do much since they sit perpedicular to the eardrum.  These etymotics though sit parallel.  I am just super worried some idiot is going to cause major damage.  Sure it's unlikely but I have seen it happen before.

They go fairly deep however are fairly flush with the ear.
