Essential electronic based music titles?

I have many favorite electronica cds, but if I had to pick one to suggest as being "Essential" it would be:

Coil - LOVE'S SECRET DOMAIN.

It was groundbreaking in 1990. The sound is incredible. Very organic and enveloping. Still sounds fresh 15 years later.

I don't know a whole lot about this style of music (and I really hate categorizing music - it is either good, or it isn't good). But just for the sake of staying within the spirit of the thread, I am pretty sure that Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine falls into this category (I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). Assuming that it does indeed fall into that category, I would say it should absoultely be included in an 'electronic' music collection.

Other artists to consider (earlier albums from):
Pop Will Eat Itself
KMFDM

I am sure someone will argue that these bands/albums are 'industrial' or fall into some other silly category, but they sound pretty 'electronicky' to me, and I am confident that they inspired a lot of 'electronica' bands that followed them.

Good suggestions, but you can't forget Shpongle. Out of all electronic music, Shpongle blew me away the most. They're less mainstream, being more popular with the Goa/Psy crowd. I really don't ever have a favorite among anything, and anytime someone asks "what's the best of ..." all I can ever do is laugh. But, Shpongle is the one exception. All three disks - "Are You Shpongled?" "Tales of the Inexpressible" and especially "Nothing Lasts" are superb. Also, the Shpongle-esque Hallucinogen "In Dub" and OTT "Blumenkraft" are very good disks, but get Shpongle first.

I second all Kraftwerk and J-M Jarre and offer up these slightly more recent electronic notables:

Apoptygma Berzerk - 7 and Harmonizer
Pop/Light industrial with lyrics and accent not dissimilar to Kraftwerk.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll
A really fun, melodic album that would probably go in the dance genre.

Postal Service - Give Up
This album put low budget indie electronic pop/rock on the map.

Gorillaz - Demon Days
Technically hip-hop, but not rap and very electronic.
