Error message: The music has expired or failed to get a license?

What the hell does this mean?? I paid for the damn music and downloaded it into my iriver about a month ago and now it wont play and gives me this message???

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong??

yes its definitely drm, which are protected music. i never buy them so i am not exact on how it work. but there are drm songs that will only play for a a limited number of time. or wont play on other machines maybe.

you will want to buy mp3 from places like allofmp3.com or mp3search.ru.

Try playing the song on your PC. When you downloaded it, you got a license along with it, that limits your usage of the file. The usage limitations vary among the different music sites. It should be fine on your computer, as long as you haven't reformated your OS since you bought the music, or deleted the license.

If it works, try reloading it to your player, as someone else suggested. If it won't play (on your PC) you may have a bad license for that download and, to the best of my knowledge, out of luck.

Or you could always complain to walmart's tech support...it might not help, but it might help your frustration.

Heh, no I actually don't. I live in a suburb of Columbus that's essentially bubbled off from the rest of the world. I moved here a few years ago and have been in Denial ever since.

I've noticed that I've had a LOT of problems with license corruption. I'd get into the habit of backing up your licenses in Media Player 10 on a very regular basis. I've lost all my licenses twice now...not a huge deal as I use Yahoo! Music Unlimited, but it means that I have to re-download all my files all over again. Certainly is a pain...

It seems to be more of a problem if one is using more than one music service. I use both Rhapsody and Yahoo!, and I've noticed that I tend to have more problems with switching back and forth between the two.

I've gotten into the habit of backing up every time I add new tracks. That way, if there are problem, you can simply restore the old licenses.

Go to the Tools=>Manage Licenses menu item in Media Player 10, and back up your licenses to a location of your choice. I keep several backups in series, just in case.

I don't know if this is a big problem with MS DRM in general, or with my services, or what exactly is the issue. I do know that if I start buying large chunks of wma music files that I'll have to be even more careful about it.
