Bryant's Ultimate

Bryant is busy and has ask me to post the official photos of his Super Gold Ultimate. This is the first Super Ultimate with 2 x 6J5, Silke transformers, TP points and with Teflon sockets. It has dual coupling caps - Mundorf Silver Gold Oil and Russian k40y-9. Mundorf silver gold solder. Just about everything. This is pretty much the complete Ultimate.

2 switches behind the 6SN7 tube. The first select driver input - either 6SN7 or 6J5. The second selects the coupling caps.

Its a TV repair box, it had a shelf for tubes and misc parts (missing when I got it) and the bottom was tool storage.

I also have their smaller boxes for adaptors etc, very strong plastic not cheap flimsy stuff.

I found that if you leave the valves lying around the SO decides you need to store them so they can be put away. So the box shown appeared, I thanked her and said “when you go to Bunnings again, can you get 2 more please” the valves from the Ukraine haven’t all arrived yet !!!

6P14P aka EL84

I have always wanted to hear EL84 in an amp that can run it properly. Well I got my wish now. This tube has now shot to the top of the class with the rest of my choice power tubes. If you value clarity, airiness, sweet treble extension, with a tightness that is tighter than skinny jeans, this is it.

This is a BIG step in reaching true audio quality. When I bought 5 EUR tubes I discovered EL81! A small step for my wallet, a huge step for me.

Tubes such as Reflector 6P14P, Fonon 6F6M1, 6F6S are true gems that cost peanuts. With driver, 6N7 is also cheap and good.

Russian 6C8C and Shuguang 6C8P could be gems too but I've yet to try them.

Then of course you have Ultimate stock tubes, 12AT7, 6SL7 and 6*6 family.

EL81 is pretty good and cheap. Same for EL12N.

I'm about to step into the world of 6J5 / L63 and I'll hear for myself if it's worth the salt compared to the best of ECC3*
