This would have been good but someone said that it didn't sound right. So the idea was dropped.

That is your preference but some of us will put up with a black dot in a sea of gold for the sake of ergonomics.

I mean in fencing, you thrush your sword at your opponent right? You don't plunge your sword at his head.

A matter of taste, ergonomically ok, as far as an UltimatE is placed on top of the rack. Wherever the tube amplifier will be, there will be enough space to plug in an XLR connector on the top, especially since this procedure is done without force, rather with feeling, I will refrain from analogies at this point.

Silver screws on that black Neutrik xlr bothers me lol. I mean what the fish, can't it come with black screws? What is Neutrik thinking?
Hopefully, Eric can find black screws that are compatible... For my Super Black UltimatE - I will prefer black screws on the Neutrik 4-pin XLR jack!

I'm afraid you have to paint the screws black yourself. Just a dot of black paint. However there is another press tab that is silver. :)

I do not mind the press tab in silver.
I am not going to paint the screws - if Eric has no equivalent black screws, I will live with the silver screws.

I finished the first box... It was pretty easy sorting since they were mostly NOS (testing will be a winter activity) This is my hell for the next year or so...

It will look good, even with a little dash of silver. If you look at some of the black tube amps, they have splashes of silver.

For those who are thinking of using EL3N tubes on ultimate. DONT!!!!!
Too noisey. This is the first power tubes that i have used that has background noise. The noise is quite loud as well!!!

I am using the proper adapters. Tubes are genuine NOS Phillips with the Red bottoms.

Using this adapter?

That's a surprise as EL11 is totally silent im Ultimate and they are electrically equivalent.

Make sure the tubes are seating well in the adapters. I hate those duck feet.

This is another black amp made by Eric for Bryant, 2 years ago. It's called Chameleon because it can take lots of tubes from KT170 to whatever. :) I was involved in the testing. My life has been good. I get to sample amps without buying them. Even then I had the EL39.

There's flexibility in this amp. It's manual bias for the power tubes. You have to set the mA. This is a full Silke built. Bryant is fortunate to get it back then. It will cost more now. It's also the first to have symetrical layout in Eric's amps. It has UL mode. I think the power is 15w in triode and 20w in UL. Drives speakers of course. Bryant tells me it drives Susvara very well.

Hi Matt.

Yes using those same adapters. And yes the tubes are seated properly. But Geez they were hard to insert.
