Keith Brown, who use to be an illustrator for Marvel comics, is currently working on a 74 page graphic novel on the life of Eric Dolphy. Brown did the illustration on Christian McBride & Inside Straights "Kind of Brown" album cover.
Anyway, I think this is a really interesting concept and hope this becomes the first in a series. You can see a short video, images, and get updates at his site below.
