Hey guys,

I just got a new pair of headphones, the Audio Technica ATH M40x to replace my M40fs after it finally croaked after 8 years.
Now, the bass on these are a tad much for me, it's a bit too boomy and the mids don't come through as much.

Which EQ software is recommended for working with Windows 10? I'm using a NI Komplete Audio 6 as my audio interface and I use some DAWs for audio work.

Also, is it better to lower the low end freqs or leave them be and boost the mids? How would you guys recommend I go about this?

I use EqualizerAPO w/ PEACE GUI. It's free and it EQs by source instead of plugins for Foobar, etc. It's free so nothing to lose.

For your second question I always say to lower. You can increase gain if the volume is needed.

So I downloaded it and it seems great but it doesn't seem to work with thing that use ASIO eg. VSTis.. Is there any way to configure it to work with the ASIO stuff?

When you install it it has you choose what sources to install EQ on. Did your source show up on that list? You can check again by going to the directory and running configurator.exe again.

Here's a VST plugin with a headphone calibration preset specifically for the M40x:

http://sonarworks.com/headphones/overview/

There is a free trial, but once it expires you can't use it for free anymore.

Also, if you'd like to learn equalization strategies, check out the guides in my signature.

Hmm, I wonder if I can somehow make eqAPO work with ASIO output since I've gotten it to a point where it sounds better than my old M40fs.
