This is a long shot as I'm sure nothing out there exists like this, but is there any kind of program, like a downloadable eq you can put on to your DAP? My DAP is relatively cheap and has eq presets which all are lacking in some area or another. If I had a way to adjust the eq manually I'm sure I could make it sounds so much better.

Nope. You can use software to adjust eq prior to putting it on your dap...

The only real solution is to get a DAP that supports custom EQ settings. While many are too dumbed-down to support this feature there are also several models out there that do.

actually the mainstream brands that don't have custom eq is apple and the new zune i think. correct me if i'm wrong.

it's not too hard a feature to implement and most reputable brands have them.
