My speakers on the computer are Audioengine 5's. My sound card is Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro. I have an Energy esw-v10 subwoofer comming. The Audioengines have a sub out and i am not sure if my sound card has a sub out. What is the best way to hook the sub up to the Audioengines?

I have the puter hooked up to a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH receiver, and b&w speakers 685's, 686's, b&w 610 sub and a b&w center. As i type this i am listening to all b&w with Audioengines from puter to the Pioneer and the sound is really good.

I wanted another sub for the Audioengine 5's, in case i did not want to turn the Pioneer receiver on. I enjoy the ae'5. Thanks for any info.

I would imagine there would be no signal for the sub from the sound card unless surround sound content were played.

Not true, if he enables bass management it should filter out low frequency from left/right directing it to sub. But I think ASIO bypasses though.

If you've got B&W why are you using A5? And why do you have A5 and B&W playing the same content?

Sitting at the computer, i am sitting at the side of the room. If i did not have any computer speakers, i would always have to turn on the Pioneer receiver and turn the receiver to the computer input. Then adjust the volume and i would never be sitting in the sweet spot of where the b&w's are playing in the middle of the room.

I really like the A5's for the computer. So for me, computer speakers are a must for me. As far as playing all b&w and ae5's, it is beautiful when i listen to music for a few hours off the computer. I enjoy turning the input volume up on the Pioneer and b&w's as i sit right in front of the ae5's and i keep them down a tad to where all speakers blend to where i sit. As far as playing music content, i like the dac out of my sound card. It opened my ae5's up so much and makes me wonder how i used a less sound card for so long in the past. I have a western digital device that is also hooked into my Pioneer and b&w's where i can play music from the Pioneer without a computer but i like the dac fom my sound card. The new sub will be alot, for when i have the puter on and the Pioneer and b&w's off.

I have the Energy esw-v10 and the audioengine 5's hooked to the subwoofer.

My sound card is a Creative x-fi Elite Pro. How do i hook the subwoofer to the sound card and this should give me more control over the sub from the control box i would think.

You'll need a RCA to 3.5mm stereo cable.

Thanks for the help. I have it going and sounds so good. I am amazed at these Audioengines. The Energy esw-v10 subwoofer works great with them. I did hook the sub from the puter soundcard. On the Creative X-Fi Elite Pro, i had never used any other mode than Entertainment mode. I did switch over into game mode and saw the bass management. I liked that but all my eq and settings are over in entertainment mode and i like that mode better. Maybe i need to try game mode more on the soundcard.

Thanks all for the help. Oh one other thing, i am using a 2.1 system, not 5 or 7 speakers on the puter. In speakers and headphones, i had to switch from 2.1 to 4.1 on speakers. I am playing the two Audioengines and the Energy sub, listening to some Peter White smooth jazz and the sound is unbelievable. For me, when i got a quality soundcard, it opened up a different world for music on the computer. Thanks again all.
