I am thinking of buying a used 1616m rather than new. I have owned the USB 0202 and 1212M and I seem to remember one must have the original install CD to initiate the install; the online drivers won't work standalone IIIRC.

Can anyone confirm this?

thanks
Jon

For my EMU (see sig) I never used the driver supplied from the CD as the newer version is on their site and the installer works fine

I bought my 1212m used and likewise didn't use the install CD for the drivers--the latest drivers from e-mu's site installed and worked fine. I did install the authoring software from the CD, though, after-the-fact. For that I just used the individual installers in each software folder, otherwise the main installer would have installed the older drivers.

I purchased a used 1616M and it installed fine with the driver pack from the site. I probably tried to install DSP software 1st (in the past) before the driver. Thanks to all who replied.

Does it have any advantage over the 1212M, only for playback SQ?
