I have a 0404USB which I mainly use for headphone driving and am considering upgrading the power supply feeding the unit. The present power supply (supplying 5volts) is the original supplied multi voltage unit which seems very small and probably not that good. A clean power supply is very important for any amplification and digital equipment. If anyone has carried out such a project were there any noticeable sound mprovements and would you consider it worthwhile?

The problem as I see it is that the box takes a 5VDC supply and then boosts that voltage internally--otherwise it wouldn't be able to drive 2.0 Vrms at the line outputs as it does.

Whatever one uses to supply voltage to the unit is not what is directly feeding the DAC and analog stages, that's for sure....so any external upgrade might not be very effective.
