Quick question for 0404 PCI owners:

Does this card support AC3/DTS passthrough on the SPDIF out?

I've read conflicting reports, some say yes, others say no. It appears that the 0404 USB definitely does, so I'm wondering if that's the issue, or perhaps the new version of the 0404 PCI now does support it...?

Suggestions for other similar cards which do support AC3/DTS passthrough are most welcome. I'm looking for something which can output 24/96 SPDIF (which rules out using the motherboard SPDIF output)

Cheers

I wasn't able to get AC3 from the E-mu 0404 PCI with Vista X64 and their beta drivers. Control panel only listed stereo as supported output.

Do you need optical or coax SPDIF?

I need toslink, since that's what I've got free on my Yamaha home theater system, but it would also be good to have coax, since I plan to eventual upgrade to an external DAC, but for now intend to use the analog outs to feed a LD MKIII.

I can't find anything confirming or denying passthrough on the EMU site, so I sent customer support an email and am waiting to hear back.

I am however leaning towards the Juli@ right now:
Sound quality equal or better to the 0404
Supports AC3/DTS passthrough
Great SPDIF for when I want to upgrade to an external DAC
