Damn the Pilgrim completely destroyed my UM Mest MK2 in almost all aspects.
Had a chance to compare the Pilgrim with my Aful P8. The P8 did much better than the MK2, actually both the Pilgrim and P8, tuning wise, sound pretty similar. The difference is the Pilgrim sounds more airy and open while the P8 is more in your head and less airy.
Mest MK2 really needs to have a good contact with your ear for the BCD to show what it can do. Although its tuning is not my preference in terms of tuning, fit and comfort, I found it particularly satisfying with instrumental based tracks. For an overall balanced tuning, I would definitely pick Pilgrim over it.

The MK2 can really add the immersion with the BCD and I can feel it vibrating in my ears. But, compared to the Elysian Pilgrim, the recessed vocal + added rumble from BCD actually make the vocal a bit hard to hear. In some rock songs or metal where all the instruments go ballistic, the vocal got overwhelmed in the MK2.

These comments are making me impatient AF. I quite liked the MK2

Just received the Divinus Velvet tips (M) and had a chance to briefly comparing it to the Eletech Baroque. I can immediately hear and feel the difference between the two tips. The Velvet is thicker in both inner and outer silicone, while the Eletech feels squishy. The Velvet immediately feels more secure and stable in the ears also it isolate a bit more than the Electech.
In term of sound, since the Velvet has narrower nozzle, it makes the sound a bit less open and more intimate. Not only that, I hear the bass is more present too, more punchy, more body as well. While the Eletech is more airy, open but less bass body.

I mean if it fits you fine and sounds great, why not?
I experimented with tip rolling with the Pilgrim using two of my favorite tips, the DIVINUS Velvet and Final Type E. With these, I noticed an increase in bass and improved sound isolation, though the stock ear tips still sounded a bit more open. Recently, I purchased some Softears UC tips, which are similar to Xelastec ear tips. I'm impressed by their comfort and fit. I'll be trying them with the Pilgrim soon.

Personally I find the Pilgrim does need a cable swap for some bassier songs like below. The stock cable is pretty revealing and has a very good spacious stage but the treble is a little hot and it doesn't get the punch when needed. The treble also gets a little much exaggeration for electric guitars and the like. It is absolutely very fine for other less bass punch demanding songs however. And thus I find the Fusion 1 to be pretty suitable when you want a more solid bass punch and a more controlled treble.

I agree, except for most people unless they have something such as fusion 1 laying around, it is hard to justify the cost. I am using code 24 right now.

I find using Code 23 and 24 line up extremely uncomfortable and they just don’t stay behind my ear loop. I do appreciate the improvement in SQ they bring but they’re meant to be used only when you’re sedentary.

You are right about the ergonomics of code series. Even the best 24c is not that good. However, for my use case, I usually wear my IEM under headband when I was mobile, that solves the problem :).

Would you say the soundstage on the Pilgrim is more spacious and holographic than the Mest Mk2?

Yea, that was one of the solutions I did think of but I can’t wear a headband everything I have to listen to music 😂

Umm not really. Mest MK2 has the edge when it comes to staging.

For me, yes for spaciousness.
