Alright, I listening to my music straight our of my HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop at the moment. I can hear a ton of electrical noise when I plug into the headphone out. I mean everything, minimizing a program makes a distinct noise, scrolling through a page makes a noise, moving the mouse etc.
I does not matter if the computer is plugged in or running on battery power.

Can anyone explain why this happens?
Hoping my Pico will get rid of this as well as making my music better

Probably because the sound chip's power rails aren't isolated or even filtered.

have you tried muting all the inputs?
