Ok, so turned 41 and have a crushing desire to learn the electric guiter (cheep midlife crisis suspected)
However I have thin walls, narky neighbours and a 1 year old boy so can't use a speaker amp needs to be headphones.
I've found a guitar I like the look of and have an reasonable amp and headphone setup already but have no idea what needs to go in the chain between the 2.

I may bite the bullet and go to a guitar shop and fling myself at their mercy but would like to go with some info so I don't get taken for a mug.

Guitar i'm looking at getting.

Amp I have

Headphones I have.

I've been trying to research this but pretty stumped.
Some people have said you need a specialist guitar headphone amp but don't really want to buy another when I have a good setup and the LCD-2's need a bit of power to drive well.
Also there's talk of pedals / distortion boxes.

Input on the amp is RCA but was also thinking about feeding the signal via my Bifrost multibit's spare RCA so I don't need to keep unplugging inputs..
Or is that a bad idea?

Lastly is there any danger to my equipment by doing this?
Don't want anything to go pop!

Cheers in advance!

So, you need a way of amplifying the passive output signal that comes from a guitar.

My suggestion would be to use an iOS device + a guitar adapter.  That way, you can output to speakers or your headphone amp (or PA if you ever gig, lots of people do this).  And, you get a lot of different sounds/amps/pedals to play with.

Thanks for the reply.

However I don't have any iOS gear.
I've been advised by a musical instrument shop that I need to get a pre-amp or amp with a line out like this one.

Just got to decide between the two which one will instantly make me sound like DSOTM era Floyd. :)

If you want a Les Paul copy get a Revelation, cheaper and better than the Epi. I have the FIIO guitar headphone amp, it's OK,but really you can't beat practising through a proper amp.
If you have a good amp, mic it up and listen to headphones that way.

I settled on the Epiphone because there seemed to get good reviews.

Looking for revelations there's several models, can you recommend one?

(edit)
Just ordered a revelation rlr in mahogany. :)
