This tube was discussed in a past thread that ended without anyone reporting their experiences. Is it an improvement over the standard EH tube? Can anyone say if it lives up to Electro-Harmonix's description?

IMO, the gold pin tube sounds the same as the standard EH tube. In my Singlepower amps, the EH tube is a good tube when you use them as outputs with a good NOS tube in the gain position.

Well, if the EH gold pin is equal to the RCA Red base, it would make it pretty much the equal of the best 6SN7 ever. Sounds like marketing hype to me. YMMV.

Ditto, also they sound nothing like the rca red base tubes. The rca has much stronger bass and one of the smoothest mid-ranges around.
