The classic headphone-of-choice for MD use would be the MDR-D66SL Eggos, assuming you are looking at something other than mediocre-sounding buds. They go for about $90 USD, and, with the exchange rate, that's about the price in Canadian bucks.

The Koss PortaPro is pretty easy to drive (even my soundcard's line-out drives it to insane levels) and sounds great.
