hi, was just wondering, does an in-line mic have any effect on the quality of the sound/microphonics of an IEM?

It should have no effect whatsoever on the sound, as they would not share any wires.
Microphonics, well, technically, since it is a somewhat larger object in the middle of the cord that could be knocked around creating noise, but I wouldn't think it would make too much difference if any at all.

well a mic for me will be used only to be able to use mic-needed iphone apps on my ipod touch. if it effects the sound at all, not worth it =/
