I recently bought a x-can v2 tube amp, and have been looking online at various tweaks/mods to improve the sound. The easiest one is to replace the cheap 500ma wall wart with higher amperage rated one. I found one out the blue tonight in a box of old leads, same voltage and the same 2.1 jack, but rated at 1000ma.

Hooked it up and the amp powered on fine, plugged in the cans and no sound... Double checked the specs on the front, and they all look ok

Google'd the serial no. on the front, and it a DC adapter, not AC like the original! Thankfully, it's still working fine - I'm so glad I didn't fry this thing!

Amps with AC input should accept DC as well, and tube amps are special in this regard. Most likely your tubes doesn't accept DC and thus won't heat up, which means no sound. And yes, AC into DC-only devices will usually end in a very quick and happy death for the device.
