Is the Studio B compliant with 5V4 tubes? Craig recommend to only roll 5AR4, 5Y3 and 5R4 for rectifier.I recently swapped it out for an old Sylvania 5V4

I don’t believe the builder Craig recommends any others except the types listed. I know all previous inquiries on alternate tubes have been met with “no, don’t”.Is the Studio B compliant with 5V4 tubes? Craig recommend to only roll 5AR4, 5Y3 and 5R4 for rectifier.
I can dig out the SBAF responses on tube options. But no issues with the 5V4 so far.I don’t believe the builder Craig recommends any others except the types listed. I know all previous inquiries on alternate tubes have been met with “no, don’t”.
Ok, good to know. I’m pretty conservative on this front but if other braver souls have proven compatibility then all good.I can dig out the SBAF responses on tube options. But no issues with the 5V4 so far.

Just had contact with Craig about availability of a Studio 300B and received this reply:
"We're completely sold out with no plans for another run. Parts getting too difficult to source".
So at this point it seems EC is out of the picture. Just saw a listing for a Studio Jr 300B for sale. Does anyone have info on the significant differences between the two sound-wise?
Thanks.
Well that is great. I asked if anything else was in the offing and got no reply, so I assumed the worst (my bad). Do you have any inkling of what might be in store? No. They are releasing a new amp in the summer.

Thanks very much for the helpful reply. May be a great option then compared to the Studio. From the research I did before I get the Studio B. They appears to be the same amp in different chassis, or maybe very similar with minimal difference in parts.
They both use custom transformers which might or might not be identifical. But definitely completly different from the transformer used in the Aficionado.
And the custom transformer play a very big part in the sonic signature of the amp.
Yes, the name was inspired by THIS Eddie!
Ah - I see you're in England; Eddie Haskell was a character in the 1950's/1960s US sit-com 'Leave It To Beaver' - Eddie was the teenage wise guy who would always be really polite to Beaver's mum, and then when she wasn't around, would turn around and torment the younger Beaver, but he just had this really great attitude.....That's a gorgeous amp, always liked the 50's sci-fi look of a 300b but who is this Eddie?

Mrs Cleaver was Beav's mum, and she was known for doing the Hoovering while wearing a pearls around her neck...Was there a character called Miss Cleaver? I'm sure that was mentioned in an Eminem rap in 8 Mile. Well if you gotta go, you gotta go...
