As silly as it may sounds, one of my friends found that there is huge difference between the sound of different versions of indigo's asio dll. My test confirmed his observations: THE DIFFERENCE IS NIGHT AND DAY.

The original indigo produces decent sound, nevertheless I am troubled by its cold, analytical, digital and unmusical characteristics. After changing to the older asio dll, these problems SIMPLY GO AWAY. The sound is as smooth as silk and I can feel the performer's emotions.

So please follow these steps, and tell us how do you think of it.

0) Use foobar2000 0.9.3, set to ASIO output.
http://www.foobar2000.org/components/index.html

1) Download and install the lastest 6.14 driver for INDIGO [optional].
http://www.echoaudio.com/Downloads/Drivers.php

2) Download ASIO Caps, set buffer size to 16384 [or there may be pop & clicks].
http://otachan.com/ASIO%20caps.html

3) Download the 6.08 driver and the 6.06 driver as well. Use WinRAR's right button menu to expand the ASIOEchoWDM.dll out of the exe.
http://www.echoaudio.com/downloadfil...indows_608.exe
http://www.echoaudio.com/downloadfil...indows_606.exe

4) Put the 6.08 version of ASIOEchoWDM.dll to /windows/system32, replacing the 6.14 dll. Run ASIO Caps, set buffer size to 16384.

5) Put the 6.06 version of ASIOEchoWDM.dll to /windows/system32, replacing the 6.08 dll. Run ASIO Caps, check if the buffer size is 16384.

6) Finished! Run fb2k, play your favorite song, and see the huge difference.

7) Feel free to change the dll back after this. There is no need to run ASIO Caps again. The 6.06 dll has the best sound for me, but you may try the 6.08 and 6.10 version as well.

Sorry for my poor English

Yes, they are working fine. I have yet to come up with any problems.

Dont install these drivers. Just move the asio dll to system32.

Is there any way to make this work with foobar 0.8.3?

My semi-informed guess would be that you only need to find the ASIO plugin for Foobar2k 0.8.3 and point it to the Indigo. As far as I know there should be no compatibility issues between the Indigo on ASIO to any version of Foobar.

It definitely works with the Indigo IO. Thanks for the trick. Works well.

Should work for all three Indigos.

The three Indigos use different DAC, so there may be some subtle differences.

please, write more details of your impressions after changing the driver: why you like it, or, why you dont

The quality is transparent to me. I'm not too familiar with headphones and it doesn't surprise me that switching between 6.14 and 6.06 are noticable. I'm primarily using an MDR-V6 model for general playback amplified by Gary's amp. I want to say it sounds more natural but I would be just lying. Time may tell.

Oh, 6.06 asiowdm using asiocaps crashes when I use it. Adjusting it manually is fine.

Nice trick though. Hope others like it. Thanks again.

Yes, so I sugest in the first post to use 6.08 dll when using asiocaps, and switching back to 6.06 after that.
