ECC34:

The ECC34 double triode is a low impedance version of the ECC32. Mullard describe the ECC34 as a low impedance double triode with separate cathodes for use as a combined frame time base oscillator and current amplifier to feed the deflector coils in AC television receivers. It is also suited to instrumentation duties and is pin compatible with the ECC32. The low to medium impedance triodes are the workhorse of instruments such as oscilloscopes etc.

The classic envelope is 43 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 84 mm tall.

Another pair of Mullard ECC33. Matching with the same construction. Yellow lettering.

ECC35:

"The ECC35 is described by Mullard in 1957 as a high gain double triode with separate cathodes for use in paraphase AF voltage amplifiers. In 2008 it is much sought after for use in audio amplifiers"

You sure have a nice collection of mullards how would you compare the ecc32's to the 35's, I own the ecc31, 35's and am thinking of getting a pair of the 32's also you're thoughts on the 33's thanks..enjoy

The 33's and 35's have more power. Combined with 4 6BL7's you are going to be oozing power. Apart from the extra power, I find them to be quite similar to the 32's. The 32's have that "coke bottle" look to them and as you well know are very highly sought after (hence high $'s). The 31's are also very similar to the 32's, but as they can't  be used in so many amps they are cheaper. To be honest, I don't think it gets any better than the 6BL7's + ECCxx tubes in our amps. I do also use B65's sometimes as I find they have a slightly warmer/lush/laid back sound, but when I want to rock it out come a set of ECCxx  tubes.

Thanks I did wonder why the 32's cost more than the 35's cool glad for the info..enjoy

I see why people love the ECC35's they are very different then my 31's I've had 2 pair of the 35's for a month or so now surprisingly good sounding, I've only got one of the 32's still looking after that eyeing the 33's, The Mullard sound is simply fine in their sq and very well worth checking out..enjoy

I have a Mullard CV1285 (military ECC31) that I sometimes use in my Project Sunrise III amp. At 950mA the heater draw is a little over the 900mA rated supply current of the Sunrise, but so far the laptop-style power supply is holding up. I use a ECC31 to ECC88 (6DJ8) adapter to make it work in the Sunrise's 9-pin socket.

The website VinylSavor says the 6N7, the ECC31's American cousin, can be used as a Class A driver, but only if the triode sections are parallel. Given they have the same pin-out and internal construction the same should apply to the ECC31. https://vinylsavor.blogspot.com/2011/02/tube-of-month-6n7.html

The 6SL7's are good but not on the same level of good as the ECC35's. While your looking for a good pair of the 35's you should try the 6SL7's I enjoy them. The 35's are with out a doubt my favorites..enjoy

I'm sorry if I'm late to the party but that tube is not on the compatibility list for the Woo WA22. I see that others are running 6SL7 but I just want to confirm before I break something, which I'm very good at doing.

Their's a number of tubes that are not on Woo's list, you are safe to play the 6SL7's no adapters needed, also another fine sounding tube is the 6SC7's, adapters needed (6SC7 to 6SL7)..enjoy

Hi everyone, I'm new in this forum and this is between very few places when I saw a discussion about ECC31. I show you my collection of ECC31 that I got about 20 years ago and maybe you can give me some advice about the manufacturer and some data about testing them. I got them as NOS, 15 with brown socket and 9 with black socket. Brownies are all identical, with code 1029 1A4 visible on few tubes, but the black ones are at least two types and I'm not so sure that are really NOS. They are all QTL but as we know QTL is just a commercial brand, not a manufacturer one, so, who made them?

Sorry but I think I don't have the right to post images here as a beginner. Will come soon.

Hi all, from Suffolk UK.

I personally adapted ECC31s for use in the 6SN7 slots of the Feliks-Audio Elise, and they were better than any 6SN7 tried!

Trouble was the heat they generated - so I went for the EL3N, then the EL11, which I (and others) found 'better' and ran the amp MUCH cooler. So you pays your money, and takes your choice!!
