Funny, all I did was purchase some additional Audio Technica M50 ear pads from Sweetwater.  I took a rubber band and looped it over the cup, onto the headband, then wedged one of the cushions in between them.  AMAZING results!!!  There is ZERO pressure points on the delicate dome-piece.  The pads are squishable and literally feel like a pillow.  And unlike the Audio Technica Air series, the headphones can still adjust in length.  I couldn't see (or feel) any faults in sound of comfort.  I like to call it the "Headband Cush-Relief" LOL!

The M50's are virtually on par with the 990's in terms of comfort.  Plus since it is attached by rubber band, it is non-permanent and of course more pads can easily be replaced if worn or whatever.

If any have had a problem with the "padded" stock headbands on many of the cans out there, here is a quick, simple, immediate, and cheap solution.  Here are some photos of my M50S and my DT990 32 ohm...
