Hi.

I am prepared to pay the approx. $700 for the EarMax pro, but I am not sure if I am getting into Diminishing Returnsland territory here or not. I know there is also the MG Head OTL and the X-Can V2 amps which are tube amps (which is what I'm after), but are they really half as good as the EarMax Pro (as their prices might generally suggest)?

Again, I'm prepared to pick up the EMP if it is at a good position on the price/performance curve and is not twice the price of those other amps for very little reason.

No. The Earmax Pro is 10x better at least. A revelation.

I currently have both an EMP and a MG Head DT. Using 600's the EMP is clearly way better but if money is tight the MG is the best dollar value that I could find.
