I'm preparing to buy a amp soon for my headphones, i have senn hd650 and grado sr225. I'm running from a Marantz CD-46 to headphone amp.

My first idea was to go for a earmax pro, and now I'm debating either the Graham Slee or EMP. If I waited about a month I could just about afford the Earmax anniversary one - but I really not sure whether it would be worth the money. I don't want to waste my cash as its expensive. What advice can you give me? bearing in mind I can't audition them, I plan on ordering online.

I'm not a valve purist, just something that suits both type of headphone. In other words, Slee, EMP or earmax anniversary? Is the anniversary earmax clearly the surperior amp and worth the cash?

You need good vintage tubes for both EMP and EMP AE.

EMP AE is definitely much better than EMP.

Since you have limited budget,
The best solution is go for EMP+3*TELE IMO. Cost is about 750USD+200-300USD for the tubes.
