Early Impressions: K340

It's hard to explain really but to put it simply, they present music in a natural effortless manner that I think is very unique in the headphone world. Either way you can't go wrong though they're both superior to the k340's (IMO).

The hp3000 is a great headphone, but if you like the akg signature I think you should look at the k3000. I had the hp3000 and it is indeed the BEST headphone that I've tried and had the pleasure to own. But it is very different than the akg house sound. AKG's house sound is fairly foward, especially in respects to vocals. The hp3000's are slightly recessed. Also it is a bit darker than akgs. This is what drove me back to AKG.

The hp3000s are nuetral and smooth. The bass is PERFECT. When I had the rs-1s I had to readjust to the rs-1s because the hp3000s just made the bass seem thin and bloated. The bass is so tight and accurate. Also the weight behind the instruments are amazing.

With that said, I will be trying the k3000s as soon as I get the chance. I'm hoping for the fowardness I like of the akg501. The k1000s are beautiful but jesus you need absolute silence to enjoy them.lol

I'm not sure how similar to the AKG house sound the k3000's are, they are more forward/aggresive sounding than any other AKG I've heard and they have more bass than the 271/501/340's combined I think :-).

Hmmm... I think I will just stick with the K340's for now then. I like what I heard of the K1000's at the Chicago meet, but they are unpracticle. I think that buying the HP3000's or the K3000's unheard could be a big mistake from what you have both been saying. Maybe I will get a chance to hear one or both at a meet sometime. Until then I will just continue my love affair with the K340.

I'll admit the k1000s are pretty unpracticle for everyday use due to design and openness. But the hp3000s and k3000s would be as practicle as any other phone. Try to give them a listen whenever you can.
