Hi all,

I am interested in trying earbuds (note EARBUDS, not IEMs - sometimes people confuse the two).
I am trying to stop using IEMs, and on-ears aren't always the best solution when it comes to portability, hence why I'm wanting to try something different.
I had a variety of cheapo earbuds years ago which were mostly terrible, so you can say that my previous experiences of using earbuds haven't been very positive.

Your mission is to recommend an earbud which will change my mind about eadbuds.

If it helps, my musical taste is rock, alternative, metal, prog-metal, prog rock, some electronic pop i.e. Chvrches, some hip-hop.

I've noticed that the VE Monk Plus seems highly regarded. Would that be a good solution?

At $5, it's a no-risk proposition. They're genuinely pretty good, price aside.

Idk if it helps, I have a pair of Moonbuds Super Nightingale and I find the sound really awesome.
Keep in mind buds require a silent environment to shine though.

What's your price range? Do you want detachable cables - option for balanced. Most importantly, how important is sub bass to you?

Take a look through the earbuds round up thread. Lots of feedback on good budget buds in there.
