Anytime I try to run the linux version of EAGLE, this pops up:

? Any ideas on how to fix it? It looks like a missing font.

have you tried executing eagle from a terminal? Is there any kind of backtrace error etc... ?

Yes, No.

"eagle -?" brings up help information, flags and the like, but it's all configuration stuff.

I got the font to work but the linux version is borked it wont let you run in freeware mode.
I think I'll stick to PCB which is GPL.

Sure it will. It simply enforces the freeware mode limits, just like the other two versions.
