E4c vs. UM2 vs. Super.fi 5

You wont be dissapointed, the UM2 is the best allaround IEM in my opinion, its great for every type of music, when you eq it properly.

They are super duper cool, light and comfortable.

Yup, most UM2 owners are very happy with them. Just make sure to try out as many different tips as you can on them before you make up your mind about them. The stock Comply tips aren't very good IMO. Try out the various Shure tips, they're more or less the right size (except the tri-flanges, you have to shorten them to use them on the UM2). I find clear flex sleeves to be the best, but it will vary from person to person.

Good luck, and happy listening.

I bought the e4c's at 1st, and for rock music, which i listen to primarily, they pretty much sucked the big one... any more than 3 instruments at one time and they sounded very strange (not really sure what the right term would be) but it sounded like the sound waves clashed and everything sounded warped.

I then bought the UM2s.

O...M...G...

they sound so awesome, its beyond words. The 1st song I listened to was "Welcome Home" by coheed and cambria, and my nose got all itchy, eyes got kinda foggy 'cuz these things sound so incredible.

Dont even get me started about what happened when I listened to the live orchestra version of 'one winged angel'

UM2s make my day, everyday.

Just wait until you hook the UM2 to an SR71 amp.

They're made for each other.

I'm in the same dilemma! I wanted to purchase the Shure E4, but then I heard about dual-driver iems. Read about the dual-driver iems on head-fi.org and been wanting them ever since.

Between the Shure E5 and the Westone UM2 I am pretty sure I would like the Westone UM2 better. Now I see the Super.fi 5 pro and I don't know whether these iems are competition or not. Does anyone know whether I should look into the Super.fi 5 pro?

I am saving up $300 for dual-driver iems. Though I am fairly sure that I will be getting the Westone UM2 I will still be reading reviews for other dual-driver iems. It will take me to the end of December to get the $300, so I'll have time to see which ones I want and to see if the holiday seasons will bring any lower prices.

No love for the E4s? My only complaint about them is they are very hard to drive in my opinion. Very highly sensisitive and low impedance, which means "easy" to drive from a portable, but hard to drive when you are considering current and silent operation, IMO.

I guess a lot of people wouldn't like them because they are so neutral... ehh what can you do?

Same situation but I think I will get the UM2 for December, I have to save $70 more though but maybe I can get low prices, that I don't really think so, I listen to rock mainly, first I considered the UE Super.Fi Pro 5, but I found insane what they charge for ship the tips and the UM2 has a lot of different options for the tips, they seem less bulky, and from what I have heard here, it seems they sound better.

I also considered E4C, but I was really sure that it would sound bad for rock.

I am now leaning towards the Westone UM2. This is because I think the UM2s are better built in a way. Well for me anyhow. I have that the wire on the Super.fi 5 Pro are not well made and also they can discount from the earpieces. I don't like the idea of the wire being able to be removed from the earpiece.

Another thing that bothers me about the Super.fi 5 Pro is that they seem to "stick" out of the ear more. I use to have the Shure E2c and they wouldn't stick out like the Super.fi 5 Pro seem to do. If you know the Shure E2c, they sit on the "inside" of the ear and not stick out of the ear. I do not like this design and the Westone UM2 seem to sit closer to the ear.

Now that I hear that both the Super.fi 5 Pro and Westone UM2 can be had for the same price I am fairly sure I will buy the Westone UM2. People are saying that both are around $250.

I would imagine that both the Westone UM2 and the Super.fi 5 Pro sound very good, but the design of the Westone UM2 is winning me over.
