Would the aquafit junior or multiplux earplugs work as well with some modification? Are there plugs like the MusicsafeII, but without the filter, that are easily modified? The sleepsoftII earplugs would work exactly the same at 2/3 the price, since they only have different sound filters right?

I found a Canadian website selling Alpine SleepSoftII earplugs(same as MusicSafeII but diff. filter) for 20 usd

and they can be had from this UK site for 8.5 gbp or about 15 usd. thats less than half the price of the MusicSafeII at sonicshop.de.

Hmmmm. If the SleepSoft are the same material and same design (and they do look like it), then they'd probably work just as well. I'm not sure about the other plugs because of the material -- the reason the MusicSafes fit the E2 is that the material is extremely soft and stretchy. The natural diameter of the shaft and the filters is about the same as the E3/E5 stem, so they have to stretch quite a bit to fit the E2's thicker stem. If the other plugs you mention are a less stretchy material, then they might not fit on the E2. (You also don't know what their sound properties might be like.)

Am I to understand that the flexible tips from this product line (Musicsafe, Sleepsoft, etc.) are essentially the same, but that it is the plastic attenuator filters (which we would remove to apply the tips to our E2) which differ?

Wow I can't believe the simple mod i made spread so much. You guys are really awesome.

I haven't been posting on the board much because I was so happy with my E3's, but the time has come where I am once again looking for some headphones (going to make a seperate post about that, hope some of you can help. I don't want to hijack this thread though).

By the way, let me also tell you why I love Ebay. After getting my E3's i decided to sell my E2's (with the mod) on EBay. I got about 2x what I paid for the E2's.
