I have the hd598's and am looking to get my first amp. portability is not an issue, I will be using this on my imac, so which will work better with a 598?
e10 or e9 for hd598

(probably worth waiting for the E17, honestly.)
Both are very portable, but since that's not relevant, I'm sure some other more knowledgeable people will be in pretty soon to tell ya some better desktop-only amp/dacs.
Do you need a DAC? I don't know how great iMac soundcards are.

just get the e17 it should work better for you because of the built in dac. e9 alone is not going to work for you're imac (you need a dac to use the usb out from you're i mac). e10 will work too if you are on budget but e17 should sound better and can be used as portable (e10 has no built in battery).
