0202 IOs:
# 1/8" computer microphone input (doubles mic/line/hi-Z preamp above)
# Two 1/4" outputs
# 1/8" stereo speaker output
# Stereo headphone output

o man.. looks like it's geared towards the budget computer audiophile (1/8" mic-in, 1/8" speaker-out...), which includes ME. The good thing is it has 2 pairs of outputs, one for my 1/8"-in speakers, and another set for my headphone set.

But the USB0404 has midi and spdif too!!! Urgh....

The only thing holding me back is the USB2.0. I know everyone was asking why there hasn't been many USB2.0 audio devices but I remember I've read that the jitter issue is very severe in USB2.0 that the manufacturers couldn't resolve it yet. But I guess E-mu's name alone eased some of my worries.

Great find, yeeyy. I'm don't know if I should buy M-Audio Firewire Audiophile or USB0202 or USB0404 now.

According to the link, the shipment start on June.

So if you can wait, please be the first to review for us!

I just realized these two USB devices need to be bus-powered, unlike the M-Audio ones that let you choose to use the included wallwart. Urgh. Hopefully some professional reviews will appear before they ship. I can't wait.

Base on the link, it seems only 0202 is USB bus-powered. And the spec on 0404 seems better too. Possible 0404 use a better DACs.

e-mu 0404 usb has an akm 4396 DAC - much better
e-mu 0202 usb has an cirrus logic cs4392

the headphone amp in 0404 is better, 0202 is bus powered and 0404 has a power adapter

I wouldn't recommend the 0202 unless you will be taking it along with your laptop on the road.

I picked up a 0202 for recording on the road with laptop batteries; haven't tested it much. I'll also be using it as an aux out to Zone3 via JRMC...my son's room. Cheap and effective, easy way to add a decent soundcard. I just picked up a DAC1 so Iwill try to do some critical comparisions soon once finals are over...good excuse to grab some AKG phones : )
