What's a good deal on the 1212m these days? I see it going for 149.95 at the local Fry's electronics and have to assume you can find it for cheaper online as well.

it used to cost $200 so even the 1212m at $150 i think is a good deal, if you
have good components to pair it with.

the emu0404 is good too although its more aggressive and bassy sounding.

The 1212m used to be available for $100 on musiciansfriend.com but they aren't anymore. $150 is about the lowest price now give or take.
