Does anyone knows how the fiio e17 compare to a marantz integrated amp ( mine is the pm4200)?

why? the E17 is not made to drive speakers, you aren't comparing like for like, if anything the E17 is a preamp, not an integrated amp

Well I am currently using the marantz integrated amp to drive my headphones he-400. But I am thinking of buying the fiio e 17 to be my dac/amp since I cannot connect my iPod to the marantz and most of my music are stored in the iPod.

I don't want to buy an e17 if its not going to sound better or on par with the marantz.

all you need is a 3/8" to rca adapter to plug the ipod into the marantz.
