I just found out the rumor that the DX90 is to be discontinued... I've been meaning to pick one up for a while, but the fact that it might be discontinued makes me wonder if there's something new coming in the same price point that'd be worth waiting for. $500 is a lot for me to spend knowing that it might be outdated in a few.

When i discovered iPod G5 with LOD/AMP i was blown away as it was my first intro to descent sound. I now use HiFiMeDIY sabre usb dac & amp on my galaxy S3 playing flacs and the sound got better. The DX90 is dual mono using sabre chips. Is there a new chip on the horizon that might take it's price point? Is it still worth it to buy the DX90?

Thanks, did not know about that. Whatever, I bought the dx90. Seems really solid. Love the fact that it uses s3 batteries cause I carry 3 spares anywhere I go.

Don't be too concerned about DX80, the DX90 is still an excellent player.

Some of the best price to performance currently. Enjoy it.
