That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. I’m glad that I’ll have a chance to demo the DX340 before I decide what to purchase. I will also get to decide if a newer device, like the 340, actually makes a big difference vs the older SP1000M in my setup.

I don’t buy equipment very often, as evidenced by the fact that I’m still using my circa 2019 SP1000M (and my Chord Qutest from 2018 that I stole from my stereo setup and needs to go back).

I don’t necessarily need a portable DAP; rather, I need a small device to function as a DAC with my Tsu V2 for my desk. But if my chosen device ends up being a DAP, then so be it. I have options.

This is why I’m contemplating and trying to demo first. It really has distilled down to DX340 vs D16 vs awaiting D17 release.
D16 sound performances will have a differences and yet similarity but IMO, they are on equal grounds. It comes down to whether you want an all in one device, or you want a stacks!

You mean DX340 and D16 are mostly on equal ground, right?

Ordered a DDhifi carry pouch for my DX340. I got one of their older pouch very high quality. For those who looking for a pouch to carry, can look out for this!

Empire Ears Triton! Can't believe this IEM doesn't get more love on this site.
Stick it in a silver cable and the technicals goes up a few notches.

I live in a portable audio desert 🌵 🐪 so I have to ask questions on here to help with my decision.
D16 is a very good option to consider. Do note that feeding it via coaxial is key to unlocking maximum sonics.

I made a post a few weeks ago regarding the compact DDhifi carry pouch.

It fits the DX340 great if you manipulate the velcro dividers a little.
Has zippers to block dust from getting in and the leather feels nice.

EDIT: I forgot to show the front flap compartment which has slots and other mini pouches, aliexpress listing photos don't show that flap either, you can technically roll up your IEMs and leave them on the front flap compartment too.

If anyone is looking for a decent small carry case for your DX340 + IEMs then I've found the DD ddHiFi CZ180 portable leather carry case,
If you manipulate the shape of the velcro-secured dividers then you should have a secure fit with the DX340.

I get 8 hours maximum at low gain with earphones and the display completely off when I am burning the device.

Actual play time is about 7 hours.
This is about right for me. I got 7 to 8 hours on high gain high dac high volume with no earphones plugged in. No screen.
