Not sure what you mean by separation.
Daps are supposed to be linear, maybe with overall tilt.
Thieaudio iems have sharp subbass boost and yet clean low mids, is that kind of effect you're after?
I have noticed not exactly a bass bleed but that the mid-bass and lower mids have no space to breathe. It's like the transition is seamless, no space between. let's say it like that. This may be because it is new and not really burned in yet.
Or let's say a bit more warmth in the range between the lower mids and mid-bass?
That's my current "Happy Setup"... all components result in a sweet but detailed synergy. Thanks to the DX260, the DUNU SA6 MkII can play as intended without much coloration from the DAP, but with clear details and energy. I wished that the Dunu's would have a bit more presence in the mid-treble region, so I paired them with the EA Eros S cable to give the higher FQs a slight push without sacrificing the lows and the MkII's wonderful note weight in the mids.

Hehe, yeah it makes me happy, thanks for your kind words! ...but the other meaning of "happy" in this regard was how well these components work together for the final sound signature you get out of it.
The case is simply the official iBasso case for the DX260 ...which (gladly) looks darker in real life than on their homepage.

For me, I unfortunately don't have a ZMF headphone yet, sorry.
...but I listen right now with the DCA E3, which is known that it's a demanding headphone when it comes to source gear, and I'm happy to report that together with the DX260, it's an utmost joy. Sure, I have to crank up the volume quite a bit, even on high gain of course, but the E3 aren't lacking much in my opinion. Apart from plenty of volume and overall dynamics, also the bass is there and slamming.... which is a sign that the DX260 is a real pocket rocket plenty of power for a DAP
So, my bet would be, if you want to hook up the Bokeh to a DAP, the DX260 should be capable to drive them pretty well.
So previously I said I wanted dip my toe into iBasso water with the DX170, as my main player is the Fiio M11 plus, but I cannonballed it instead and purchased the DX260 and wow it certainly is an upgrade from my M11 plus (which I plan on still keeping). I know I need to burn it, but so far am very satisfied
If iBasso plays it well, then they already should have plans on updating the 260 to Android 13. The DX260 is only 6 months on the market and in a few months, after the DX180 hype train left the station and the iBasso devs have more time and resources, it would be a good timing for an update.
I guess @Paul - iBasso might give us some info on that when the time comes?
Just got DX260 as a transport, sounds really awesome with Ibasso D16/PB5 combo.
Even when use DX260 itself, sounds good and comparable to other brands more expensive offerings!
And it is comparing apples to apples. Being modified for the every day user, who isn't going down that route, isn't a comparison. And often, I have heard some things improved with modifications while other things diminish. I have read of caps being raved about, tried them, let them burn in and while some things stood out, others regressed. As a DAC/amp, I think on its own, the 260 stands out and is better than some more expensive daps and isn't restrained to the sub 1000 range.
More than a new version of Android I would rather have iBasso focus on features and regular bug fixes (like the battery reporting the wrong capacity). When it comes to software, HiBy runs circles around iBasso. My old original R5 is still receiving updates to this day and it's Android 8 based.
