Are you guys changing filter and gain settings, trying different players and play modes. Android Mango, Hiby player etc. I can't imagine not being able to voice this as desired and it's got the resolution.

I've tried those things and don't think they make a big difference. But you miss the point. I'm not saying anything negative about the DX240; I think it's a very competent player. I just prefer the sound I get from the DX228ex. I guess in theory it's possible to EQ what I'm getting in the 240, but I mostly listen to Tidal bit perfect and don't think it offers EQ.

I don't care to fiddle with EQ as a general rule, because then I'm constantly feeling a need to change it.

In my mind, this was more about the Amp8ex, and where it sounded "best".

I got it the 1st time and I welcome the opinion. Just making sure that you tried them for perspective. I personally find the filter and player differences reasonably significant.

Lets say but here i also can't understand, how 248ex is worse than 228ex if 240 clearly upgrade from 220 with their stock amps as many reviewers stated. At least it should be if not better but at the same level. Even some remeber stated that 240 with amp8 original is for his ears is similar to 220 +8ex. So better than with 220. So there should be only some preferances not real better or worse. Because can't believe ibasso made 240 worse than 220. Amps are different question

It would be preference. The DX240, IMO, is by no means worse, different and in a few areas, IMO, better. I like the detail and dynamics.

Ofcourse it could be dap+ieam , headphone combination match question. Or prefered things. I ofcourse believe that for your ears really one seemed better than other but still can't check fir myself as i dont have 220. Only dx160 from which dx240 clearly upgrade. And tested and compared with 320 but it is also different hardware and tuning.

Yes, I don't believe anyone said anything about better or worse. Strictly preference.

You can believe only your ears. I had tests with both DX's. And I recommend to make a test before buy. I sold dx240 after testing. Quite expensive experience))

Has anyone tried to send for modifying his amp8 or amp8 mk2 for dx220/240. Wonder if these days there is anyone who still makes such midification for upgrading theses amps. Saw fedilizer was doing such hardware mods. Perhaps someone has experience or have opinion. ? For amp12 i saw in uk someone is doing but not for 200/240 series. Thanks for sharing

M15 and R8 are close to $2000 with taxes...Shouldn't the comparison be with the $1399 Hiby RS6? Also AMP8 MKII is a much better AMP vs the old AMP8

Have you heard both amp 8 to say that mk2 better than original?
