Not really. I just wanted to upgrade the sound and after reading and testing with various caps, I ended up there. i'll probably just get a pic of AMP8 MKII and show what I changed. Basically, I did what iBasso did for AMP8 MKIIs except i used Nichicon fine Gold electrolytic capacitors which give a more 3D soundstage vs the ELNA Silmic II which I also tried and tested.
Swapped out the original while caps (0.15uf) on AMP8 MKII to Nichicon fine Gold 10Volt, 47uf. More capacitance = bolder full sound. 47uf is the sweet spot. I tried higher and sound fell apart.
Changed the axial capacitor (marked 6800, KT1601, the green cylinder looking one) to a 630V 1% tolerance Philips 560pf axial polypropylene film cap.
Swapped out the green rectangular one (0.015uf, MKT1822 10% tolerance) to 0.015uf 1% tolerance WIMA FKP2 Film cap (since 1% and 2% use copper leads vs aluminum for 5% and 10%. copper is 40% better at conducting electricity). also added a 220uf Nichicon fine gold cap as iBasso later did for AMP8 MKIIs (They used 220uf Simens capacitor).
Film caps just sound so refined, beautiful, smooth, clean and very dynamic. Got the idea from Paul of PS Audio.
The original parts are metalized aka MKT or MKP, the M stands for Metalized. Metalized sounds harsh. I did swap back and yup, my upgrades sound next level. Like a $3500 DAP or better.
FKP = first letter means film foil which sound best for audiophiles.
Hence why I switched.
So, look at AMP8 MKIIs, use the parts/ specs I listed, and you'll know where to solder what capacitor to get that super wide 3D refined quality sound.
I have no interest in another DAP for now.
