DX240 DAP. DAC ES9038PRO - NEW: AMP8MK2S .****** NEW Firmware! 2.01 *******

I'm taking advantage of this thread to ask a question. I have an AMP8 that I had on a dx220 (I bought a case and covers to mount the amp from the dx220 to the dx240) and the possibility that a friend could give me an AMP8 mkII. Will I find a big difference in sound? I like the AMP8, and I wonder what the sound signature of the mkII is like? Has anyone tried both? Greetings.

I changed the new battery I received from ibasso but the device doesn't turn on now. Anyone got an idea what is causing this? When I connect it to a usb cable connected to my pc and long press the power button it flashes the screen that says "ibasso" and shuts down.

Make sure you plugged the battery in the right way.

Hey guys, I've been rocking this baby for quite some time now... Until today where the AMP 8MK2 suddendly stopped emitting any sound :(
I tried multiple headphones 3.5mm and it's definitely the DAP.

I tried reverting back to the AMP1 MK3 but I can't get it to fit in the case...
Nothing seems suspicious on the 8MK2.

Any solution?

Did you remove the AMP multiple times, if so, eventually the face plate holes will widen due to over tightening of the screws. The AMP may not be fully seated. Try pushing it in while you play music. if it works, you may need a new faceplate and screws from iBasso {$22 I think}. I had to do the same as I was tinkering and improving on my AMP8 MK2 with 1% axial Philips 560pf polypropylene film cap and 1% WIMA FKP2 Film cap which contains copper (1% and 2% use copper leads for pure sound). Takes AMP8MKII to ultimate refined levels from bass to treble.

Damn do you have a tutorial on improving the dx240?

Not really. I just wanted to upgrade the sound and after reading and testing with various caps, I ended up there. i'll probably just get a pic of AMP8 MKII and show what I changed. Basically, I did what iBasso did for AMP8 MKIIs except i used Nichicon fine Gold electrolytic capacitors which give a more 3D soundstage vs the ELNA Silmic II which I also tried and tested.

Swapped out the original while caps (0.15uf) on AMP8 MKII to Nichicon fine Gold 10Volt, 47uf. More capacitance = bolder full sound. 47uf is the sweet spot. I tried higher and sound fell apart.

Changed the axial capacitor (marked 6800, KT1601, the green cylinder looking one) to a 630V 1% tolerance Philips 560pf axial polypropylene film cap.

Swapped out the green rectangular one (0.015uf, MKT1822 10% tolerance) to 0.015uf 1% tolerance WIMA FKP2 Film cap (since 1% and 2% use copper leads vs aluminum for 5% and 10%. copper is 40% better at conducting electricity). also added a 220uf Nichicon fine gold cap as iBasso later did for AMP8 MKIIs (They used 220uf Simens capacitor).

Film caps just sound so refined, beautiful, smooth, clean and very dynamic. Got the idea from Paul of PS Audio.

The original parts are metalized aka MKT or MKP, the M stands for Metalized. Metalized sounds harsh. I did swap back and yup, my upgrades sound next level. Like a $3500 DAP or better.

FKP = first letter means film foil which sound best for audiophiles.

Hence why I switched.

So, look at AMP8 MKIIs, use the parts/ specs I listed, and you'll know where to solder what capacitor to get that super wide 3D refined quality sound.

I have no interest in another DAP for now. :xf_cool:

Definitely show us what you changed brother and show us what soldering iron you're using too please 😁

Good morning, does anyone in the community know if it's possible to update the Mango app on Android?
Thanks everyone.
Regards.
No, its distributed only as part of the system and as far as i can tell is optimized from device to device.
