DX240 DAP. DAC ES9038PRO - NEW: AMP8MK2S .****** NEW Firmware! 2.01 *******

can't say how it affected exactly, but soundstage opened up more as i remember and overall amp8 mk2s became my number one amp for dx240. It even surpassed in some ways 8 ex version i was using prior. Ex a little more smoother, bigger bass and musical, but mk2 is more balanced and detailed with really good control in low end. I still wanted to compare to dx320 but lately i am not sure if 320 could give noticable step in sq after mk2s came out. It s what dx240 needed in my opinion. Only not many knows what they could get with s version and reviews that was made basically was with mk2 not s version. Overall s version is best and perhaps last of amp 8 series.Hey, just got the AMP8MK2S and it's great, significantly better than the MK2, at least as far as I can remember. Can anyone tell me how burn-in effects it? I noticed it has more detail and separation than the AMP1MK3 I've been using, but smaller soundstage and less extension.

Not sure, but 8 have to admit I prefer the look and feel of the DX240 to the DX260.Anyone has info when DX260 will be released???![]()
From a GUI point of view, would I notice a slowdown of the UI compared with my current DX320 ?
My DX320 is currently being repaired but I’m preparing myself for possible replacement just in case and cannot justify shelling out the same dough again for another DX320. Plus the DX320 is kinda large despite loving the big screen. Of course I realise the DX240 are now in very very short supply everywhere.

Cause either one have their own distinctive way of presenting sound to you, irrelevant of implementation. Some of us prefer one or the other. I was hoping to see a sabre as well. But there's always next time.
All Sabres have no colouration added to sound anywhear, sound with absolute transparency throughout the frequency range, absolutely natural sound.
All CS's have overly colourful sound, a lot of extra colouration and saturated textures, like extra sharpness filter and saturation most mobile phones screens.
AKM's generally sound very close to natural with a tiny bit of sweetening added to all sounds and also a bit of colouration in mids/lows.
TI's are generally the OG ones with most natural tone and almost no extra saturations or textures added or put in front, but still something they do makes gives them their particular warm sound. Not quite as transparent as Sabres but what a joy to listen to.

That is your opinion. It is all good if a person is enjoying the music. My reference is different sources of live music.Cause either one have their own distinctive way of presenting sound to you, irrelevant of implementation. Some of us prefer one or the other. Besides, the current CS chips have similar neutrality to the ESS units, to what you do around them is more critical. For me, ESS arrived at their 38 series when they lost a bit of their 'characteristic' but really, these all can be voiced by associations... like most anything else.

It's kind of ironic because I mainly use my DX240 with FiiO FH7s and I felt the same way about the FH9 "upgrade" to the FH7 as I do looking at the DX260. I'm sure it'll sound good but it lacks the tasteful design and it makes me wonder what the character of the internals will be.Not sure, but 8 have to admit I prefer the look and feel of the DX240 to the DX260.
