Hi. I have an old NS500V that I may try to use as a budget source. Would the SCD-CE595 be comparable or maybe better? Thanks very much in advance for the input.

I had both at some point, but never compared them directly. I think both are good budget performers. Speaking from memory, I think NS500V is slightly 'thick' sounding and CE-595 is more neutral and accurate. I ended up giving the CE-595 away though, just becasue i hate its multiple disc changer functionality, I never rememered where each cd was located on the tray.
